Daytona Beach, Florida

If you want to opt for a cheaper retirement option, choose Daytona Beach on Florida’s Atlantic coast. You’ll have plenty of large motorsports events each year because NASCAR is headquartered in the area. The average home price for those ages 60 or older is $160,200.

While the median mortgage payment is $1,173 per month, while the monthly cost of a mortgage-free home is $433. The median monthly rent is $910. Naturally, retirees might be tempted to stay here thanks to the low housing costs, and the pleasant winter weather. But it’s worth mentioning that Daytona Beach isn’t your typical sleepy beach town, as there are many things to do here.
