  1. Vanguard Target Retirement 2035 Fund – Vanguard has a suite of Target Retirement funds that carry each retirement date. The 2035 fund is created for investors that are expected to retire in 14 years, and it has a suite of comparable offerings, with many expected retirement dates.
  2. Vanguard Target Retirement Income Fund – Consisting of domestic and international stock funds and three bond funds, total, international and inflation-protected, VTINX is one worth considering whether you’re about to retire or already have. To get a 30% stock and 70% bond asset allocation, they invest in five of Vanguards index funds.
  3. Vanguard Wellesley Income Fund Investor Shares – This is the perfect fund for income investors because it offers exposure to stocks and investment-grade bonds. It is a balanced fund, so you might expect it to have more allocation toward stocks. Well, this fund allocates about 38.6% to stocks and 60% to bonds.
  4. Northern Trust Global Tactical Asset Allocation Fund – This one’s also called the “fund of funds” by Northern Trust. It is suitable for investors that want to diversify their retirement portfolio with an international combination of stocks, bonds and commodities.
  5. Baird Aggregate Bond Fund – BAGIX is an actively managed fund that tries to achieve an annual rate of return greater than the one from Bloomberg Barclays U.S. Aggregate Bond Index. The fund focuses on risk control and investment discipline. The fund’s sector profile spans government, industrials, and financial bonds.
  6. Vanguard Balanced Index Fund Admiral Shares – VBIAX adheres to 60% stock, 40% bond allocation, and it aligns with major stock and bond market indexes.
  7. Pimco Income Fund – As many say, this is the best retirement fund. PIMIX is into the fixed-income category, offering an income with less risk than an all-stock portfolio. It has only one goal: to maximize current income, with capital growth in the background.
