26. Retirees Aren’t Giving Up Their Keys

Some might expect seniors to start driving less as they age. Others consider the opposite due to mobility issues: elders ere expected to rely on their own comfortable cars in comparison to public transportation.

One thing’s for sure, whether or not retirees drive, they seem to be holding on to those car keys. Car ownership peaks for people between the ages of 45 to 54, meaning that 89.1% of them still own cars. Then, only 86.1% for those aged between 55 and 64, but the numbers go up to 86.8% for people ages 65 yo 74. Finally, only 82.2% of retirees over the age of 75 still own vehicles.
